Evaluating and reducing green house gas emissions relating to energy use at music festivals.
This is a research project being undertaken at De Montfort University in the Institute of Energy & Sustainable Development by Ben Marchini. The overall aim of the project is to design a methodology through which a festival's energy use can be described, which can show how much energy a festival uses (and the associated carbon footprint of this activity), along with describing how this energy has been used, and what can be done to reduce this energy use.
This project began in October 2009, and field research will take place at festivals in 2010, 2011 and 2012. When I'm not conducting my research, I'll be in the Face Your Elephant tent, so feel free to come along and talk to me about my work, or anything about festivals or sustainability in general.
